Autism Ribbon
Autism Ribbon – Express your Care
The origin of autism ribbon is not clearly known. However, this is a great concept and helps generate empathy amongst the people for this neurological disorder. For all major health problems like AIDS, cancer etc a special ribbon has been created. This helps in making the society more aware and sympathetic towards the needs of the patients.
A ribbon also acts as a powerful symbol and expresses care and concern. It helps in uniting people from all walks of life irrespective of their geographical location, nationality or religion. Cast, creed and color take a back seat and the society unites to help those affected with these diseases.
What does the Autism Ribbon say?
Autism is a neurological disorder which has no definite cure. Millions of dollars have been spent on research and studies but to no use. Scientists and experts are still trying to find out the cause for autism and its various symptoms. This makes autism pretty mysterious. And an autism ribbon aptly symbolizes this mystery.
An autism ribbon is printed with tiny multicolored puzzles. The colored puzzle pieces symbolize the confusion and ignorance that surrounds autism. The fact that neither a definite cause nor a cure is known is perfectly depicted through this ribbon. Not only this, autistic individuals also are as mysterious as their illness. Their lack of sociability and under-developed communication skills makes them pretty enigmatic for the rest of the world.
Wearing this ribbon increases awareness amongst the masses and makes them empathize rather than neglect autistic people. Parents of autistic children suffer more than the child himself. They drain all their resources in an attempt to make their child physically and financially self-sufficient. Wearing autism ribbon creates an understanding about the plight of such parents. Taking care of an autistic child is not only extremely expensive but emotionally taxing as well. The constant fear about their child’s well-being makes a parent’s life terrible.
You can contribute
Many rallies have helped establishing foundations that take care of autistic people. Even though an autistic person looks healthy, he still is not capable of being on his own. An autistic person will not talk, play or work since he has no interest in worldly activities. If left on their own, neither will they socialize nor express their problems. This might even lead to their death.
Autism ribbon has helped raise funds which are used for the treatment of autistic people. Certain campaigns have also helped in creating basic awareness and raising funds. You can contribute money to a local autism society. Educate others about this unexplained illness and ask them to join hands to help the autistic people live a fulfilling life. Support in all ways for someday this unexplained disorder will have a cure.
