Autism Cures?

Autism Cure - Do we have an answer yet?

‘Autism’ is a complex neurological disorder which affects the functioning of brain, thus impacting an individual’s creative & communication skills. This disorder today affects approximately 4 out of 1000 children between the ages of 3 to 10 years. Interestingly though, this widespread illness did not even have a name until the middle of the 20th century. Even today, researchers do not have a single theory about what causes Autism and there is not definite therapy for Autism cure.

Common Symptoms:

Autism affects different individuals differently and the affects can vary from being mild to severe. This is one reason why finding a specific treatment for Autism cure is difficult. The treatment has to be tailor-made for each autistic individual separately. However, there are three basic characteristics seen in autistic children:

Social Interaction: Autistic children find it difficult to form relationships. They prefer being alone and react indifferently to people around them.

Social Communication: They face problems in expressing themselves fully. Autistic child will be pretty unresponsive to verbal & non-verbal communication like facial expression, change in voice, common gestures etc.

Imagination: They have a very limited creativity. Their interpersonal play and imaginations skills are quite underdeveloped compared to other normal children of their age.

What causes Autism is a mystery that many scientists, researchers and doctors are trying to solve. There is no exact known cause behind the disorder. However, a lot of theories reveal that Autism can be associated with a variety of conditions occurring before, during or after birth. Human brain contains over 100 billion neurons which connect to other nerve cells in the body. When some of these cells do not develop properly or get damaged, a child might suffer from this disorder. The reason behind these undeveloped or damaged cells is still not known.

Despite its many challenges, many autistic people are living happy and fulfilling lives. And these people do not feel the need to find an autism cure. This is because being autistic makes them feel unique and different. They enjoy being the way they are and do not consider Autism a disorder at all.

However, Health care professionals and specialists can help an autistic individual achieve his/her full potential. It is important to educate the society about this disorder and its implications. Also, if you want to make a contribution, donate as much as you can to a local Autism society. These funds will help in research for Autism cure and providing aids to affected children. People should accept an autistic child with an open heart just like any other normal individual.
